Serving Ms. Knight as Honorary Pallbearers will be her care givers Jan Hayes, Ella Ruth Burnham, Judy St. Germain, Cora Goudy, and Donna Lowery, as well as the Ladies of the Bridge Club; Mary Francis Buffington, Annie Ruth Campbell, Betty Dykes, Loraine Folse, Betty Bell Gibson, Vicki Little, Billie Rhe Pudas, Mary Beth Reeves, Dorotheann Rogers, and Lillian Thomas.
Ms. Knight was born May 20, 1924 in Houma, Louisiana to Armand O. Porche and Isare Cenac Porche. Sylvia Knight graduated from Terrebonne High School in Houma in 1941. She attended Louisiana State University, the University of South Louisiana and Tulane University. Ms. Knight's fondest memories were of the summers she and her family spent at Grand Isle, LA. She was the past president of the Collins PTA and the Covington County Cancer Society. She was a member of the Bridge Club, the Green Thumb Garden Club, Home Demonstration Club, and the Music Club of Collins. She loved playing bridge and having a good time according to her children. Ms. Knight was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband of 54 years, Daniel Championois Knight; 3 brothers, Armand O. Porche, Jr., Charles Wade Porche, and Jacques T. Porche; and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Porche Hebert and Irma Jane Porche Picou.
Ms. Knight is survived by her 3 sons, Daniel Charles Knight and his wife Brenda of Collins, Michael Armand Knight and his wife Martha of Collins, and Patrick Jones Knight and his wife Cynthia of Land O Lakes, FL; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Knight Leggett, Daniel Charles Knight II, Michael Championois Knight, Armand Anglin Cole Knight, Patrick Hunter Knight, and Kelly Louise Knight; 3 great grandchildren, Brendan Tyler Knight, Maia Lynn Knight, and Seborn Dewitt Leggett; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation for Ms. Knight will be Saturday from 11:30am until 3pm at the Wade Funeral Home in Collins.
