Death of Mr. G. A. Wolfe

Mr. G. A. Wolfe died Sunday afternoon about 3 o'clock at the home of his brother-in-law, Mr. Chas. A. Slagel, who lives a half a mile south of town on the Griffith road. Mr. Wolfe had been confined to his bed since last Thursday of an acute attack of kidney trouble and was unconscious for a day and a half before his death. Deceased was 75 years of age and was a son of the late Mr. george Wolfe, who served on the first grand jury ever held in this county which met at LaBatt's Cross Roads, now the Tindle place, in April, 1843. Mr. Wolfe had been in bad health for many years and was compeled to give up his farming operations years ago. He was a unique character and was widely known and loved. For many years he had been a consistent member of the Methodist church and was a most excellent citizen. He is survived by his three sons, W. A. Wolfe of Waxhaw, G. K. Wolfe of rock Hill, s. C., and John Wolfe of Peachland, and four daughters, Mrs. sam spray of whitmire, S. C., Mesdames will McManus, c. A. Slagel and Sam secrest of Monroe, and three brothers, Messrs. Lon, J. A. and Tom Wolfe all of Mineral Springs. Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Dr. C. C. Weavver and the remains were interred in the Monroe cemetery.
