ARLINGTON
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Joan Janette Allen, 67, went to be with our Lord on September 23, 2010.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010, at Shannon Rose Hill Chapel. Burial to follow immediately after at Shannon Rose Hill. Visitation will be Sunday, September 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.

Joan Allen was born on December 25, 1942, in Ector County. Joan will always be remembered for her sense of humor, giving heart, strong faith, cooking, friendship and love of animals; but most importantly for her devotion and love for her family. She will always be a cherished memory in our hearts and the hearts of her many friends and coworkers at Nurtur.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Byron Allen.

Survivors include daughter, Myshell and husband Paul Gardner of Odessa; son, James and wife Jo Dee Norman of Arlington; daughter, Shari and husband Rick Riddle or Bedford; mother, Bonnie Allen; grandchildren, April and husband Pete Corey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brian Norman of Dallas, Matthew Norman of Arlington, Brittany Gardner of San Marcos, Patrick Norman of Arlington and Tiffany Gardner of Odessa; great-grandsons, Gavin and Pierce Corey; two brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan married Jerry Deverl Norman and they had three children. They subsequently divorced.
