John, who resided in Delaware City, Delaware, served as a Lieutenant Commander of the destroyer U.S.S. Dickerson, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was Killed In Action" when the Dickerson was fired on by an unidentified ship in the Atlantic while returning to Norfolk. Three other crew members were also killed during the attack.

He had served in the Navy for nineteen years and nine months at the time of his death.

Son of William U. Reybold and Berenice Keane Reybold.

The Dickerson received six battle stars for World War II service.
