Peoria - Laura J. Hartness, 85, of Peoria, died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center.
Laura was born on Feb. 25, 1920 in Princeville, IL., a daughter of Peter J. and Emma Kupfer Streitmatter. She married William E. Hartness on June 10, 1945 at Ft. Bragg near Fayettville, NC. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1992 in Peoria.
Surviving are three sons, Roger (and Debra Yocum) Hartness of Metamora, Wayne (and Cheryl Wells) Hartness of Peoria Heights, and Brent (and Ellen Stein) Hartness of Swansboro, NC, by her two daughters, Cynthia (and Dennis) Heilman of Pekin and Sharon (and Mike) Troncin of Morton. Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Sadie Streitmatter of Peoria and Elma Brown of Jacksonville, IL.
She was a member of Twelve Oaks Community Church in Peoria where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 19th. The Church ministers will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Wilton Mortuary in Peoria and also one half hour before services at the church. Memorials may be made to her church or the American Heart Association.
