Married to Jennie for over 50 years, he was a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad in Wyoming before moving to Sacramento in 1924. He was the brother of Allen, William, Jennie, Charles, Ned, and James. At the time of his death he had 8 grandchildren.
