Mrs. Louise Kelly Pearson, 85, of Myersville, died Thursday, August 5 2010 at her home. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Pearson, Sr., who predeceased her in 2001.


Born Feb. 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Clara Howard Kelly.


Louise was born in Sanford, NC and attended Jonesboro High School. She began her singing career with her two sisters, Betty and Miriam at the age of seventeen. They performed as the Kelly Sisters at a radio station in Sanford and later moved to Charlotte to perform with Arthur Smith and the Briarhoppers.


She and her husband Joseph "JB" Pearson, Sr. lived in Hyattsville, and then Upper Marlboro, Maryland where she raised 8 children. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, making crafts, as well as canning and preserving vegetables that she grew in her garden.


She was a member of Calvery Memorial Church in Hyattsville where she was a preschool Sunday school teacher for many years. More recently, she attended Sunday school and services at South End Baptist Church in Frederick, Maryland.


She is survived by six children, Kathryn Stoner of Cambridge, MD, Dorothy Sullivan of Owings, MD, Joseph Pearson, Jr. of Myersville, Mary Pagliaro of Salisbury, MD, Wanda Southers of Wake Forest, NC, and John R. Pearson of Churchton, MD; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Lynn Monroe, Polly Carter, Ida Brown, and Carolyn Buchanan.


In addition to her husband and parents, Louise is predeceased by two children, Rose Pearson Woodring and Teresa Pearson Entzian; three sisters, Betty Cole, Ruth Spivey and Miriam Snyder; and three brothers, Nello Kelly, Wilbur Kelly and Homer "Skip" Kelly.


The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday, August 9, 2010 at South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Drive, Frederick, MD. Funeral services will begin at noon. The Rev. J. Kenneth Stalls will officiate. A fellowship meal at the church will be served immediately following the funeral service.


Interment will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD. Those wishing to attend should assemble by 12:45 p.m. at the cemetery.
