Carl C. Droegemeier, 90, Burlingame, died Monday, Sept 23, 2002, at an Osage City Nursing Home. Mr. Droegemeier worked for the Santa Fe Failway Co. for 33 years before retiring in 1975. He was born March 25, 1912, in Caneiro, the son of Charles and Mary Milbradt Droegemeier. He moved to Burlingame from Ellsworth County in 1942. Mr. Droegemeier was a member of the Burlingame Federated Church. He married Viola Farrington on May 20, 1935, in Kanopolis. She died Sept. 25, 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ester Escatel, Topeka; four sons, Charles Droegemeier, Paxico, Ralph Droegemeier, Reno, Nev., Jim Droegemeier, Reading, and Gerald Droegemeier, Burlingame; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Services were Sept. 27 at Burlingame Federated Church. Burial was in Burlingame Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Burlingame Federated Church or to Midland Hospice Care of Topeka and sent in care of Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame.
