Annie D. Kintner was born Ap. 13, 1865 in Stacyville, Mitchell County, Iowa. She was the first of four children born to Avilla Porter and Christian Kintner. She married John Franklin Nicholas, first born child of Henry Nicholas (1830-1910) and Mary Bevan (1831-1904) who was born May 16, 1860 in Cardiff, Wales. Annie and John met in Mitchell County after John's parents moved there to farm.

Annie and John had five children:

1.Frank C. Nicholas b. 1885 Mitchell Co. IA d. 1938

2.Henry "Clark" Nicholas, B. 1887, Mitchell Co., Iowa; d. 1934.

3. Charlotte "Lottie" M. Nicholas b. Mar. 20, 1889 Mitchell Co., Iowa; d. January 1980, Phoenix, Arizona.

4.Lena P. Nicholas b. March 17, 1891; d. January 1975, Mason City, IA, buried in Wayne Cemetery.

5. Maynard Ellsworth Nicholas Jun 7, 1899 David, IA d. Aug. 23, 1965

MRS. NICHOLAS RITES TO BE AT MCINTIRE

Mrs. Annie Kinter Nicholas, 86, died at a Mason City Hospital at 3:30 p.m. Monday following an illness. She had been a resident of Mason City for the past 13 years.

Mrs. Nicholas was born April 13, 1865, in Mitchell County near Stacyville. She was married to John F. Nicholas, February 19, 1884, and they made their home on a farm in Mitchell County, where they farmed until 1910, when they moved to McIntire.

Mrs. Nicholas lived at McIntire for 30 years until she came to Mason City December 17, 1937, to make her home with her daughter, Miss Lena Nicholas, 951 East State.

Surviving are a son, Maynard Nicholas, Centralia, Wash., two daughters; Miss Lena Nicholas, Mason City; and Mrs. J. W. (Charlotte) Ezra, Irving, Ill., 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, a sister; Mrs. Edith Fessenmeyer, St. Paul, Minn., and two brothers; Otto Kinter, Indianapolis, Ind., and Henry Kinter, McIntire.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Frank, in 1938, and Clark, in 1934, and one brother. Mrs. Nichols was a member of the First Baptist Church.
