CHELAN -- Effie Mae Mathews, 85, of Chelan, died in a local nursing home Sunday following a short illness.
Mrs. Mathews was born Jan. 1, 1885, at Hancock County, Ill., and she married Samuel Mathews, May 2, 1906, at Quincy, Ill.
They came to Chelan in 1930. In 1956 they moved to Wenatchee where they lived until 1963 when she returned to Chelan.
Mrs. Mathews was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by two sons, Ray Mathews, Sunnyslope, and Floyd Mathews, Woodland Hills, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Eunice Markey, Wenatchee; two sisters, Mrs. Amadna Harding, Chelan and Mrs. Nora Hastings, Wenatchee; one brother, James Elston, Mendon, Ill.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1955.
Betts Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
