2 CARTERVILLE WOMEN HURT
Horse's Weight Breaks bridge, Throwing Them From Buggy
Mrs. Eva Williams and Mrs. H. Murphy, both of Carterville, were seriously hurt about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon when a horse which they were driving to a buggy broke through a bridge on the Carterville-Neck City road. the accident occurred near the pumping station of the Carterville and Webb City water plant.
Each of the women sustained a sprained back, and it is feared that Mrs. Murphy sustained internal injuries. They were thrown from the buggy when the bridge went down under the weight of the horse.
Note: This location is now just below the bridge crossing Center Creek on State Highway 'D' north of Webb City. Old remnants of the bridge and pumping station could still be seen as of 2017. (contributed by NJBrewer)
