Cleo E. Baker, Saranac, age 85, passed away February 22, 2006 in Ionia. He was born on February 11, 1921 in Muir, the son of Clyde and Blanche (Hallock) Baker.

Mr. Baker was a veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and enjoyed gardening. Cleo was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ionia.

On February 28, 1946, he married Ilene G. Peck in Lowell and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2004.

He is also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Elmo and Vida Baker and sister and brother-in-law, Marvel and Harold Smith.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth Baker of Saranac, brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Virginia Baker of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Dale and Ruth Baker of Saranac; sister-in-law Evelyn Oom of Grandville, serveral nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Carl Tsatalbasbidis at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Ionia. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrrangements are being handled by the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Ionia.
