Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Jenkins Mortuary Chapel for Carl Ernest Hodell, 79, whose body was found in the Jordan River Sunday afternoon. Mr. Hodell had been missing since February 24. Members of his family found the body more than a mile and a half from the river bridge where his cane was found when it was presumed he fell in the river.
A native of Switzerland, he was born May 30, 1874, a son of Blasius and Caroline Galler Hodell. He moved to Canada as a young man and later came to Utah. He married Martha Grosnick in the Salt Lake LDS Temple/
He worked for the American Smelting and Refining Co. in the Murray plant for many years. He was a high priest in the Murray Fourth Ward.
Survivors include his widow, three sons, and two daughters.
