Lemoyne enlisted in the Army on August 21, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Sales Clerk and also as Separated, without dependents.

He was "Lost At Sea" when the plane he was assigned to crashed, for unknown reasons, into the North Atlantic Ocean while on ferry duty out of the New Castle Army Air Base, New Castle, Delaware.

He had served in the Air Corps for one year and seven months at the time of his death.
