Daniel Osheal was born in what was then Nansemond County, Virginia about 5 miles from the town of Suffolk, Virginia on his fathers plantation.

Daniel Osheal was the son of David O'Sheal and Elizabeth Pugh, and in his own handwriting he referred to himself as Daniel Pugh O'Sheal. He was the namesake of his maternal grandfather Daniel Pugh of Nansemond County, Virginia.

Daniel married Sarah Walker in Granville County, NC. He owned a plantation on Shocco Creek in Granville County, NC, but due to financial loss, he removed with his family to Georgia and then to Union District, SC.

NOTE: The family Bible which had the Osheal family record was mentioned by his son Jethro Sumner Osheal in his Revolutionary War pension papers, and that Bible was at the house of John Lancaster and Apsley Osheal Lancaster (sister of Jethro). In 1995 I was able to view this Bible briefly which had several pages of Lancaster family births, marriages, deaths, as well as the Osheal family entries which look like Ofheal, using the old way of writing an S to make it look like an "f" The top entry of that page, written in much lighter ink, but still very clear and readable, was the entry Daniel Pugh Osheal son of David Osheal and Elizabeth Pugh. Other entries included Daniels wife Sarah and then children including Apsley Osheal, John Walker Osheal, Jethro Sumner Osheal, Jefferson Osheal and Teresa Osheal. I hope anyone with knowledge of the current whereabouts or further details of this Lancaster Osheal Bible will contact me. (very important to our family research) David Travillion Bunton
