Son of Lewis Ezra Pierce and Hannah Elsie Mercer Pierce.

Husband of Maxine Rosemond Pierce whom he married on June 14, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware. She was from Portland, Maine.

Harry, who resided at R.D. 2, Newark, Delaware, served as a Signalman Third Class on the gunboat U.S.S. St. Augustine (PG-54), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" when the St. Augustine was accidentally rammed by merchant tanker Camas Meadows off the coast of Cape May, New Jersey during the war along with 114 others.

He had served in the Navy for two years and six months at the time of his death.
