White's original tombstone was a four-sided pillar. He was buried with his three wives: (1) Sarah Moon of Garrett County, MD; (2) Mary Irons of Garrett County, MD; (3) Mary Magdalene Smith [Maria Magdalena Schmidt] of MD. There once existed a photograph of this grave, but it disappeared. Mary Smith was the wife memorialized on the current marker.

Mary Irons had no middle name. Her parents were John Irons, Sr. and Mary _____ of Garrett Co. John served in the American Revolution. He left a will dated 12 Feb. 1848 which mentioned her as "Mary White."
