Francis served as Major during the Revolutionary War. (Still researching exact details of this service.)

Brief pedigree explaning the connection between the Armstrong and Hardgrave families:
James (1772-1840), the son of Francis and Sarah Skelton Hardgrave, married Almira Dyer. John Davis Sr, the son of James and Almira Dyer Hardgrave married Virginia Armstrong, daughter of William and Alianna Hill Armstrong. Virginia is the 3rd Gr-Grand Aunt of my Armstrong children. Her older brother, Reverend Thomas Armstrong is the 3rd Gr-Grandfather of my Armstrong children.

As research continues, I have discovered additional Armstrongs with ties to the families of Hardgrave, Barton and Hill.
