Joshua Michael Jones, 69, of Brevard, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at The Oaks Of Brevard.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Winfred Lee and Martha Gibbs Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Heath Jones in 1986, and also one brother, Bill Jones. He was a veteran, serving in the Navy, and was retired from Ecusta.
Survivors include one daughter, Maria J. Clark of Brevard; two sons, Ronald Michael Jones of Rosman and James Keith Jones of Pisgah Forest; two sisters, Ruby Powell and Dixie Jordan, both of Salisbury; five brothers, Winfred Jones, of Summersville, S.C., Morris Jones of Salisbury, Jack Jones of Kannapolis and Clyde and Charlie Jones, both of Brevard. Five grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Gibbs officiating. Burial followed in the Carr's Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites con-ducted by the Brevard V.F.W. and American Legion.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
Moody-Connolly Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



He was a life time resident of Translyvania county and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was born July 9, 1938, in Buncombe County. He is preceded in death by his parents, Winfred L. Jones, Sr. and Martha Jones; also a brother, William Jones; his wife, Carolyn, whom he married in 1960; also a dedicated friend, Jean Buck.
