MARY ANNIE HAWKINS
-----
Born June 12, 1882. Entered the rest of paradise January 1, 1910.

She was for several years an inmate of Thompson Orphanage, which she entered in 1882. After great industry and perseverance, under very difficult difficulties, she became an efficient trained nurse. She was a communicant of the Episcopal Church, and a member of the order of the Daughters of the King and the little silver cross of that order now rests upon her breast. The funeral was conducted in St. Peter's church, Charlotte, by the Rev. H. Mallinckrodt, assisted by the Rev. E. A. Osborne, and was attended by Miss Capehart, one of the matrons of the orphanage, and a number of the inmates of the institution, who laid upon her grave a beautiful cross of roses, as an expression of their love, and appreciation of the pure and lovely character she alsways sustained.
