A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, September 22rd at 2:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 107 South Ora, Pryor, Oklahoma. Dr. Terry Tramel, Joe's nephew, and Reverend Ray Gwartney will officiate. Joe's grandsons and grandsons in law will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Don Tramel, Hal Molder, Chester Kirk, Elmer Pruett, Andy Richard and Phil Davis.
Joe, 85, was the oldest son of Charles Dewey and Georgia Dolly Tramel. He was married to Von Tramel on June 16, 1952. He is survived by Von and their four children and their spouses, Mayor Jimmy Joe and Jeanne Tramel of Pryor, Roy Lee and Lynn Tramel of Bartlesville, Pat "Sissy" and Paul Rowe of Midwest City and Shelly and Tony Nutter of Oklahoma City. As part of his legacy he leaves 7 grandchildren and their spouses; Matt and TeAna Tramel, Susan and Kevin Rhoades, Amber and Chris Marlowe, Mandie and Waylon Bland, Abby and Micah Moeller, Jared and Blair Nutter and Madison Tramel and 13 great grandchildren; Morgan, Ashton, Paul and Mikey Marlowe, Hayden and Bryce Rhoades, Ben and Annie Lang, Jackson Nutter, Barrett and Callie Bland, McKinLee and Brooks Tramel. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Jean Molder of Powell, Mo., Jaunema Benham of Salina and Elaine Cole of Verdigris, OK and 1 brother Don Tramel and wife Doris of Catoosa, sisters-in-law Lena Tramel of Norman, Rose Tramel of Gideon, OK and Pat Harlan of Purcell, OK. He is also survived by sister and brother in law Ann and Tom Wilkins of Chouteau, OK. He is survived by many, many nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to him as "Joe Knowledge."

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill Tramel, Roy Tramel, J.L. Tramel, Junior Tramel and sisters Maxine Sanford and Diane Ball. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-laws Bill Cole, Sam Harlan and James Molder (best friend for life) and sister in law Alice Tramel. He was also preceded in death by his mother and father in law Mary Ellen and Melvin Wilson.

Joe dedicated 37 years of his life to Georgia Pacific. He was a lifetime member of American Legion-Salina Post, was a 32nd degree Mason, and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Salina Post. He was honorably discharged April 8, 1946 decorated with the World War II Victory and the E.A.M.E. Theater ribbons. He served the community of Pryor as a Ward 1 Councilman. He loved good old southern Gospel music, nurturing and supplying fresh vegetables to family and friends, world class fishing and his large and close knit family.
