Mrs. Bennetta Heath McKee, widow of Arthur G. McKee, of 710 Bromley Road, died Tuesday, March 9, 1982 , in Presbyterian Hospital. She was born January 9, 1896 in Charlotte, daughter of the late Benjamin Dawson and Nettie Haley Heath. Mrs. McKee lived in Cleveland, OH from 1949 until her husband's death. She became a resident of Palm Beach, FL in 1965 until her return to Charlotte in the Spring of 1980. She was a former member of the Charlotte Country Club, the Riomar Club in Florida, the Union Club and the Athletic Club of Cleveland, OH. She was a life time member Emeritus of the Flagler Museum of Palm Beach, FL, a donor to the Cleveland, OH Museum of Art and the Northwestern Ohio Historical Museum. Mrs. McKee was co-organizer of the Charlotte Chapter of the Junior League, and the first meeting was held at her home in 1924. She worked several years with the N. C. State Adoption Board and was one of the largest donors to the Mint Museum of Art. She was a graduate of the Castle on the Hudson Finishing School in Tarrytown, NY and attended Mary Gardner School on Fifth Avenue in New York City. She also was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, March 11, in the Harry and Bryant Chapel in the Oaks with the Rev. Frank Vest officiating. Interment will be private. Mrs. McKee is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Slator Clay Blackiston of Bethesda, MD; a son, C. Heath Alexander of Charlotte; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice. Harry and Bryant Co. is serving the family of Mrs. McKee.
