The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth M. Coyner, widow of the late Artemus D. Coyner, who died at her home below Waynesboro last Thursday morning, was held at Zion Lutheran Church on Sunday at 11 o'clock, Rev. W. J. Shuey officiating. Mrs. Coyner was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Harner Faber, and the granddaughter of Peter Faber, who served several tours of duty with the Virginia militia, including the expedition that took part in the battle of Long Island, and was one of the guards who brought the Hessian prisoners to Winchester. For his Revolutionary War service the county of Augusta awarded him a pension in his old age.
Mrs. Coyner's husband also had a grandfather in the Revolutionary War-George Michael Coyner, who served with the troops from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, where the clan lived before migrating to Virginia.
The deceased was the youngest member of her family and its last survivor. Those who preceded her included Mrs. Wellington Watts, mother of the late N. C. Watts; Mrs. Rebecca Owen, William Faber, John Faber and Mrs. T. H. Foster.
Surviving Mrs. Coyner are four sons and three daughters-Newton C., of Richmond, E. Kemper, of Marion, D. Joseph and A. Vastine, of Waynesboro, and Mesdames William J. Showalter, of Washington, D. C., Oscar D. Henkel, of Waynesboro, and Harry E. Patterson, of Harrisonton. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
