Ralph Grayson Black, 82, of 1044 Columbia Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at his home.
Born April 14, 1915, in Union Bridge, Md., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Cora Lee Wolfe Black.
His first wife, Mary Ethel Pheabus Black, and his second wife, Martha E. Watkins Black, preceded him in death.
He was employed with Western Maryland Railway for 42 years.
He was a member and president of United Transportation Union Local 633.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Lee Ann Martin of Hagerstown, Irene Lou Ellen Stickell of Charles Town, W.Va., and Olive LaRue Dillion of Greencastle, Pa.; one stepson, Stanley H. Sweeny of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Olivia Lois Black; one son, Kenneth L. Black; one sister, Lois Cartzendafner; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. James R. Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
