Charles Arthur Corkum, 75, Wolfville, formerly of Belcher Street, died April 29, 1995, at home. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Charles Norton and Florence (Hirtle) Corkum. He attended Bridgewtater High and Maritime Business College. He joined the Royal Bank in 1937. During the Second World War, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1945 he joined the firm of Cyrus and Manning Ells Ltd. as secretary-treasurer. He was director of Canadian Poultry Products Institute; Canadian Hatchery Federation; and the Canadian Egg Marketing board. He was president of Maritime Hatchery Association and for some years, chairman of the Nova Scotia Poultry Council. He was also president of Wolfville Curling Club and Kentville Gyro Club. He was active in various other organizations. He received his 50 year membership pin from Chester Basin Legion in November of 1994. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Ells; daughter, Constance (Mrs. Merle Millett); son, Charles Edward; sister, Catherine Louise (Mrs. Ross Ritcey); six grandchildren; a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a daughter, Christine. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service 2 p.m. Wednesday in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville, Rev. Hedley Hopkins and Rev. Donald Jackson officiating. No flowers by request.
