Deana Ruth Smith, 71, of Columbia passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Deana was born on July 15, 1939, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Homer and Ruth Blakemore Semon. She was united in marriage with Everett Smith on Nov. 4, 1958, and he preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Denise Backus, and Robin Scruggs and husband Curtis, all of Columbia, and Kevin Smith and wife Frances of Centralia; one brother, Dale Semon and wife Rose of Columbia; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Leaton; and a brother, Homer M. Semon Jr.
