W. A. KESSIE, 75, of Dumas, former long-time resident of Canadian, died September 30, 1990.

Memorial services were held in the First United Methodist Church in Dumas, with Dr. Jim Pickens, pastor, and Dr. Keith Wiseman, an Amarillo Methodist pastor, officiating.

Masonic graveside services were held by Masonic Lodge No. 855 in the Canadian Cemetery. Burial was under the direction of Stickley-Hill Funeral Home of Canadian.

Walter A. KESSIE, Jr. was born in Kansas City, Missouri, attended school in Hartley and graduated from West Texas State University at Canyon.

He was a teacher in Canadian schools.

He was married to Lovilla CLAY in 1942 at Santa Barbara, California. She died in 1986.

He married LaVerne WISEMAN in 1987 at Dumas.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dumas, a veteran of World War II, and a 32nd Degree Mason.

Surviving him are his wife, LaVerne Wiseman KESSIE; two sons, Charles KESSIE of Canadian and John Paul KESSIE of Kansas City, Missouri; two step-sons, Dr. Keith WISEMAN of Amarillo and Bill WISEMAN of Great Falls, Montana; a step-daughter, Nancy PIERCY of Amarillo; four granddaughters, nine step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
