spouse of former Doris Ann Crooks
Harry Blair Purinton, 88, went to be with his Father in heaven on Friday, May 24, 2013. He died at his home in Clarion, surrounded by his loving family who are celebrating his life as he trades it for a far better home in Heaven.

Blair was born to Dorothy Juliet (Blair) Purinton and Bernard Stanley Purinton on October 11, 1924, at their home in Wellsville, Ohio. The family moved to Clarion from East Liverpool, Ohio, in 1941.

While attending Clarion Area High School, he met the love of his life, Doris Ann Crooks. Following high school, he attended Allegheny College in Meadville and joined the US Naval Reserve, serving as a naval aviator for 2 1/2 years during World War II. He married Doris Ann Crooks on June 20, 1947, beginning the 62 happiest years of his life.

He worked at the family business, The Purinton Pottery, in Shippenville, which was started by his father. Upon its closing in 1959, he worked for ABC Mobile Home Company and
later opened a franchise with Century Custom Recording.

Blair will be remembered by his family as a generous, thoughtful man to whom family was of the utmost importance. His loving support and wisdom and his complete devotion to his wife, were examples that will continue to influence their lives.

Blair was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris Ann, and his brother, John James Purinton, III.

He is survived by his three children: Gary Bernard, and wife, Starla, of Clarion, Ann Elizabeth Patterson and husband, David, of Cabot and Jean Louise Hulse and husband, Daniel, of Altoona. Also surviving are eight grandchildren:
Doug and Christa Purinton, Jillian Cairns (husband Brian), Laura and Blair Patterson and Tiona Swander (husband James), Benjamin and Samuel Hulse. Also surviving are four great grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Clarion First United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Deryl L. Larsen, presiding. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
