Mrs. Geneva Victoria Stanley, 79, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born September 7, 1931 in Fancy Gap, VA, the daughter of the late Coligny and Mae McMillan Phibbs. Mrs. Stanley was a member of Jonestown Baptist Church (now Green Tree Baptist Church) for 37 years. She loved Blue Grass music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Stanley, three brothers, one sister and one grandchild. Survivors include six children, Emma Gonzales, Kenneth Stanley, Vicky Acosta, Tony Stanley, Betty Kearns and Robert Stanley all of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Tim Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Jonestown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family wishes to say a special thanks to Donnie Phibbs and family and Lena Matherley and family for their support and caring shown to Mrs. Stanley.
