EIKENBERRY, Mary Elizabeth (Flora) passed away peacefully on September 1, 2010. Mary was born June 13, 1915 in New Windsor, Maryland to Joel Cephas and Elizabeth (Garver) Flora. She graduated from Wayne High School in Ohio in 1932 and from Manchester College, IN in 1936 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was active in Church of the Brethren (COB) youth camps, serving as a counselor, camp director and manager at Camp Sugar Grove in Ohio and as a camp counselor at Camp Mack in Indiana. She also served on the COB Southern Ohio Youth Cabinet. Mary taught both Junior High and High School at Tipp City schools in Ohio from 1936-39. Mary and Ivan Eikenberry wed on July 29, 1939. They had five children: Melody Ann, Joel Leon, Terril Stephen, Lynn Daniel and Brian Allen. Mary and Ivan journeyed to Nigeria, West Africa in 1945 to serve as full time missionaries with COB. Using their mutual background in education, they served for 35 years. Mary taught elementary school at Garkida Mission School and then at COB Waka Teachers' Training College from 1945 to 1959. She then moved to Kaduna where she served from 1959 to 1977 as administrative assistant for Northern Education Advisory Council, an inter-denominational collaboration in education. In this capacity, Mary hosted many international mission visitors. While in Kaduna, she served as chairman of the service committee and president of the International Women's Club. In 1997, Mary and Ivan moved to Mubi where she taught at Kulp Bible School until her retirement from the mission field in 1981. Mary "retired" with Ivan to Trotwood in southern Ohio. From 1981 to 1986, she participated in mission interpretation and "Micah Mission" throughout the congregations of COB in the U.S. Mary served on the District Board of the Southern Ohio COB District and as its moderator for a year. As a member of the Trotwood COB, Mary served on the church Board, as a teacher/coordinator of "Passing on the Promise" and as a Sunday School teacher. She volunteered with Kingdom Kids, an after school program at the church. In 2006 Mary moved to N. Manchester, IN residing at the Timbercrest Senior Living Community until her death. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ivan Eikenberry (1993), sons Brian (1974) and Terril (1998). She is survived by her three remaining children and spouses: Melody & Lawrence Rupley, Joel & Beverly (Sayers) Eikenberry and Lynn & Beth (Johnson) Eikenberry as well as 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Rogers' Funeral Home in Trotwood, OH at 110 West Main St. on Friday September 3, from 5 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at Trotwood COB at 208 East Main St. on Saturday, September 4 at 11:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Ivan Eikenberry Family Scholarship Fund at Manchester College (P.O. Box 365, N. Manchester, IN 46962), or to the Trotwood COB (208 East Main St., Trotwood, OH 45426) or to Timbercrest Charitable Assistance Endowment Fund (P.O. Box 501, N.
