The son of John Martin & Mary Schriver Weigle and the husband of Mary M. Weigle. In 1860, he was a plasterer living in York Borough.

On September 12, 1862, he enlisted with his brother Nathaniel in the Wiest Independent Militia Company, a unit formed in response to R. E. Lee's invasion of Maryland. The saw no action, and the unit disbanded September 24, 1862.

Note that his brother's tombstone (FAG #59001835) spells their last name "Weigle."
