Wanda Fiore, 94, an active parishioner of St. Sylvester's who sang in the church choir, died yesterday at Sea View Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and Home, where she had been a resident for the past two years.

Born Wanda Waloski in Hightstown, NJ, she was brought to Brooklyn as a child. She also lived briefly in Manhattan before moving to Concord in 1942. In 1985, she settled in Castleton Corners.

A homemaker, Mrs. Fiore worked for over ten years as a live-in housekeeper before raising her own family.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Sylvester R.C. Church, Concord, where she was a member of the choir for more than twenty years. Mrs. Fiore also served multiple terms as president of the Rosary and Altar Society and St. Theresa's Society. Her work with the church also included organizing bus trips, religious tours, and pilgrimages to raise funds for the church.

Mrs. Fiore enjoyed traveling and drove across the country several times. Known for her adventurous spirit, Mrs. Fiore always wanted to learn how to fly. And although she couldn't, according to family, she jumped at any chance to travel in jets, crop dusters and hot air balloons. For her ninety-second birthday, she went on her first helicopter ride across New York City.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, and baking, and knitting blankets for family and friends.

"My mom was very adventurous, witty, and had a good sense of humor. Her wit, charm, and energy will be missed by many," said her daughter, Felicia Villiers.

Her husband of twenty-six years, Peter C., died in 1965, and her son, Peter N., died in 2007.

Along with her daughter, Felicia, also surviving are two other daughters, Barbara Fiore and Joan Nipe; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Thursday from the Hanley Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Christopher's R.C. Church, Grant City.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
