August 7, 1943 - Mrs. Lee ANDERSON of Glazier has received a communication from the war department that her son, Cpl. Von R. ANDERSON, died in as Japanese prison camp. A letter with details has been promised.

Corporal ANDERSON, known in school as "Rusty," joined the U. S. Marines at Oklahoma City in November, 1929; was trained at Mare Island, California; sent to Hawaii and later to the Philippines.

For a time he was stationed at Cavite, 30 miles south of Manilla. The last letter received by his mother was dated there November 27, 1941.

In July, 1943, Corporal ANDERSON was reported "missing in action." This summer, Mrs. ANDERSON learned through the Red Cross that her son was held prisoner by the Japanese.

Mrs. Bertie JOHNSON of Canadian is a sister of Corporal ANDERSON.
