Mother, Daughter, Sister, Angel, NOW IN GOD'S HANDS

Burial Date 2-19-1998

From Caroline;
Below is Angela's story if you want to include any of it in the bio section.... very sad

Cold case of Angela Marie Brown, who left her mother’s home in October 1997, to deliver a message to her brother. Dinner was in the oven and she didn’t even take her purse, just grabbed a pack of cigarettes and hopped in her car.

She never came back.

Angela Brown, 32, had lived hard. She was “in the drug world,” said her mother, Dorothy Brown, and was facing criminal charges in Billings. But she had turned her life around since her last bust and was living clean and sober, taking care of her daughters, one of them 16 and the other just 4 months old.

Dorothy at first feared Angela had fallen off the wagon or been arrested. She drove around and found her car parked haphazardly in a drug store parking lot, just a block from where Jordan would be murdered three years later.

After three days, Park County Sheriff’s deputies began to search, beginning with the car. They pried the back seat out of it, to see if Angela was dead in the trunk.

“I stood there and waited to see if my daughter’s body was in the trunk,” Dorothy recalled.

She, too, feared foul play and asked officers to check the car for fingerprints. They declined, saying it wouldn’t do much good.

Four months later, in February 1998, fishermen found Angela’s decomposed body in the Yellowstone River near Springdale. CIB then took the car and kept it for a month.

“In the meantime, my granddaughter had been driving it back and forth to school,” Dorothy Brown said.

Angela was facing methamphetamine charges in Billings and was known to run with a rough crowd. But her lawyer, Kevin Brown, had arranged a plea bargain that involved no jail time. She didn’t snitch, Kevin Brown and her former probation officer said, didn’t rat anybody out.

But somebody might have thought she did, Kevin Brown said.

“She was in the drug world,” he mother said. “You can’t be in that world and not have any enemies.”

The cause of her death has never been formally released.

“She had a traumatic death,” is all Park County Coroner Al Jenkins would divulge.
