One of 12 children, George was born 9 Aug 1874 possibly in Hickory Co, MO near the home of family of Rev. Thomas Draper Herbert, first cousin to George's father or possibly near Mt Vernon, Lawrence Co, MO.

George worked as a Dry Goods Salesman and married Nellie Lou Cullens abt Nov 1900 probably in Nelson, Nuckolls Co, NE or possibly in Council Bluffs, IA where his widowed mother was living. Their first child, son Max, was born shortly after in September, 1901, in Council Bluffs, where they attended the First Christian Church with his mother.

After residing in Fremont, NE for a short time, his family moved back to Omaha where he worked as a sales clerk for J.L. Brandeis Dept. Store.

George died suddenly on 12 Sep 1917 at home, 4007 N. 25th St. in Omaha. As of October 2007, it was no longer standing.

He was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, NE on the day following, 13 Sep. His grave is located about four rows away from, and in direct line to, the grave for wife Nellie who died suddenly in 1921.
