Mrs. Taylor, 83, Dies Last Night

Mrs. Mittie Jane Taylor, 83, died last night at about 9 o'clock at the residence, 410 Pennington avenue, following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the residence. The Rev. J.W. Brinsfield, pastor, of the South Broad Methodist church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. J.W. Hamilton. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Spartanburg, S.C. on September 14, 1854, but moved to Floyd county at the the age of three years. She had been a resident of Rome for the past 72 years.

She was the widow of John T. Taylor, a leading florist in Rome for many years, who died in 1926. She had been operating the florist concern in association with her son since his death. Mrs. Taylor was a devoted member of the South Broad Methodist church, having been a member since it's organization. She was prominent in church work and was greatly beloved.

Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Willie Tippin, of Atlanta, Mrs. Harper Lloyd of Rome, Mrs. M.L. Fisher of Carrollton; four sons, Sam of Hope, Arkansas, M.B., Sr. of Cartersville, Hunter and John Henry Taylor of Rome; twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include the following grandsons: taylor and M.L. Fisher, Jr., Bradley and Jack Lloyd, Clyde Tidwell and Morris Taylor.
