James "Shorty" Robbins, 79, of Port Arthur, Texas died Monday, September 20, 2010 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas.

Shorty was born March 28, 1931 in Clairborne County, Mississippi to James Allen Robbins, I and Wyland Mann Robbins. He was a resident of Port Arthur for 54 years and a Soils Engineer at Southwestern Laboratories with 28 years of service. He was also an US Marine Corps Veteran.

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park with Rev. Grant Hanes officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Robbins, sister, Louie Pierce and brother, Tommy Robbins.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 53 years, Lucy Ioan Robbins of Port Arthur, Texas; daughters, Tina Marie Kohn and husband, Mel of Commerce, Texas; Kristeen Hanes and husband, Rev. Grant of Wells, Texas; sons, James Allen Robbins, III of Port Arthur, Texas; Fred Robbins and wife, Deanna of Port Arthur, Texas; sisters, Louise Jesson of Beaumont, Texas; Jennie Rife of Roswell, New Mexico; Wyland Cain of Lorman, Mississippi; brother, George Robbins of Port Arthur, Texas and 6 grandchildren.
