When Nathan was about three years of age, he moved with his parents to Fairfield County, South Carolina. Nathan was a farmer Carolina until about 1833-34, when the family moved to Conecuh County, Alabama. While he lived in Alabama, he farmed and served on it's board for many years as trustee. From old records of the time, we find him also active in various communit
Alabama in 1858 to Texas in order to serve as guardian for the children of his deceased son, Wyatt.
On the 1860 census Nathan had $4,500 worth of real estate and $13,500 worth of personal estate.
