Note: Sabine's birthplace is given on her death certificate and her obituary as Germany. Over the course of wars throughout the years, Krojanty is now part of Poland rather than Germany.

MRS. C. M. POTLITZER DIES

Joplin Woman Born in Germany 72 Years Ago


Mrs. Sabine Potlitzer of Joplin, wife of Charles M. Potlizer, died last night at her home in the Ridgeway Apartments, Joplin. She was 72 years old. She had been in poor health for several months, and some weeks ago her condition became serious.
Mrs. Potlitzer was born in Krojante, Germany and was married there in 1875. Had she lived until next fall, she and her husband would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
They came to America about 40 years ago. for the last four years they have lived in Joplin, and before that had resided at *Pittsburg 21 years.
Mrs. Potlitzer was active in philanthropic work in Joplin and Pittsburg. She was a member of the Jewish Council and the Aid Sisterhood of Joplin and the Eastern Star lodge at Pittsburg.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons; George Potlitzer, 411 Sergeant Avenue, Joplin, and James Potlitzer of St. Joseph; manager of the Potlitzer Brothers store there; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Armbt and Mrs. Emma Micheal of Berlin, Germany and one brother, Louis Sommerfield of Berlin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the United Hebrew Congregation temple in Joplin. Rabbi Gary August of St. Joseph will be in charge in the absence from town of Rabbi I. L. Rypins of the Joplin congregation. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Her death certificate indicated that her parents names were given as S. Sommerfield and Lena Spiker both born in Germany.
Her death was attributed to Nephritis, senility and diabetes. Arrangements were under the direction of the Frank-Sievers Undertaking Company
