"Our Father" Aged 65 years, 3 months, 4 days. H. P. Allison, the son of John Allison and Rachel Barnes and one of nine children, was one of the earliest settlers of Mills County having moved there from Gentry County, Missouri, in 1852. He had married Rebecca Linville, daughter of Zachariah and Nancy Cash Linville, February 20, 1834, in Lafayette County, Missouri. Their eight children were: Nancy C., Zachariah, Rachel, John L., James Dallas, Wilburn A., Mary, and Eva. Just a short time after their arrival in Mills County, on May 3, 1852, Rebecca died. Her stone at Pleasant Hill Cemetery is thought to be the oldest in the cemetery.
Humphrey remarried in 1853 to Mary Adams Day Carnes, widow of Benjamin Carnes, with children Josephus, Thomas F., Mary, and Amanda. (Mary Day was the sister of Rebecca Linville's brother Henderson's wife Ursula Day and her brother Byram's wife Elizabeth Day.) Following their marriage, Humphrey and Mary had three more children: Calthae, Emza Calista, and Bevra Alice. Humphrey and Mary were members of the Christian Church of Waubonsie, which was organized 9 March 1853. Humphrey died 8 April 1876 and was buried next to his first wife, Rebecca. Mary, who lived to 1902, is also buried at Pleasant Hill.
