Born 29 July, 1896 seven miles south of Glory in Lamar Co, TX. The first son of James Thomas Candler and Ida Lorena Langley. He married Addie Mae Varbel 6 Oct 1928. He opened the first motel in Colorado City called Candler Courts. He claimed it was the first motel west of the Mississippi. He served on numerous city positions.
His children were: Eva Mae (1929), James Lawrence (1931), JoAnn (1933), Bobby Jean (1935) and two infants who died: Thomas (1941) and Mary Fancis (1944)
