Major League Baseball Umpire. Born in Eynon, Pennsylvania, for twenty-eight seasons (1938-65), he was a professional baseball umpire. He began his career in the Canadian American League in (1938-39), moved to the Eastern League (1940-43) and the American Association (1944-45). Paparella was an American League Umpire (1946-65), and holds the record for most games umpired in a season with 176 games, including 30 doubleheaders (1962). He died in Sebastian, Florida, at age 85.
