Warren E. Beck, 75, former railroad depot agent at Geddes and at one time president of the South Dakota Federation of Labor, died at a Minneapolis hospital Wednesday morning, according to word received by his brother, Judge A. B. Beck of Yankton.
About 50 years ago, Warren Beck was a telegraph operator for the
Milwaukee road in Yankton before going to Geddes, where he was depot agent for 30 years.
In 1945 he was promoted to personnel director and continued in this position at the railroad's Chicago officers until his retirement seven years ago.
He had resided in Minneapolis since that time, spending the last two years in a hospital there with a lingering illness.
Funeral services are tentatively planned at Minneapolis Saturday with interment at Canton, S.D. Judge Beck said.
Survivors include the widow, Lela; one son, Robert E. Tacoma, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Fallen. Michigan City. Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Estella Perry, Harrisburg; and five brothers, A.B., Yankton; Ernest, Geddes; Charles and William, Sioux Falls, and Russell, Highwood, Mont.
