M. Frances Anderson, 68, of Dayton died Thursday at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford, after a brief illness.

Born in Limington, a daughter of F. Leon and Luella Hartford Smith, she attended schools in Hollis and graduated from the former Hollis High School.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Goodwin's Mills United Methodist Church at Lyman and its Women's Club.

She enjoyed gardening.

A son, Dexter Anderson, died in 1984.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Richard H. Anderson; two daughters, Mrs. William (Dixie) Harris and Mrs. Timothy (Gayle) Barstow, both of Dayton; two brothers, Elwin Smith of Bath and Elton Smith of Hollis; a sister, Mrs. George (Leona) Hanson of Hollis; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at York Funeral Chapel, 76 State St., Gorham. The Rev. James Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery, Hollis.
