Julia Marie Bright, 68, 1850 Edgewood Dr. NW Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Sunday morning, Feb. 27, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Corvallis, Ore., following a sudden illness. Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2000 at Overton-Van Steenhuyse Funeral Home, Vinton, Iowa with the Rev. Steven Benton, Faith Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Julia Bright was born July 18, 1931, in Vinton, the youngest of seven children born to Clifford and Alice Wilson Schoonover. She graduated from the Vinton schools and attended Coe College. She taught at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton where she met her husband, James Bright. They later divorced. For almost 30 years, Julia taught biology and earth science at the North Linn High School.
She was an active member of Faith Bible Church in Robins and performed missionary service through Operation Mobilization and Network of International Christian Schools, Inc. She performed the Lord's work in England, Ireland, and Vienna, Austria.
Julia loved spending time with her family and friends. Her endless love of God and nature were the center of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald.
Survivors include: sons, Lon Bright and his wife, Stephanie, Cedar Rapids; Lon Bright, St. Louis, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie, granddaughters Heather and Holly Cedar Rapids. Sisters, Virginia Patterson, Oregon, Dorothy and husband Clifford Ivey, Pennsylvania, Brothers, Lloyd Schoonover, Alabama, Wayen and his wife Phyllis Schoonover, Mich., Clifford Jr. and wife, Margaret Schoonover, Wapello, Iowa; 19 nieces and nephews and a special friend, Margaret Patterson, Iowa City, Iowa.
