Edna Mae Beamer - Huerfano World - June 10, 1993 - Edna Mae Beamer 79, of La Veta, died Saturday, June 5, 1993, in Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Walsenburg where she had been a resident for the past month. She had been in the hospital since March. Born Oct. 14, 1913, in Oakview, west of La Veta, to William L. and Sarah Jane Powell Morgan, she began school at Radium, near Canon City and later when the family moved to Forbes and the Aguilar area, she continued her elementary education. She attended two years of high school in La Veta. On Sept. 15, 1929, in a double ceremony with Alice Beamer and Leonard Clark, she married Julian John "Dude" Beamer in Antonito. They spent the rest of their lives together in La Veta where they operated a dairy farm and ranch. He died in 1983. Mrs. Beamer was a member of the First Baptist Church, La Veta; a charter member of the B-Loyals and La Veta Study Club and a member, of Mariposa Chapter No. 63, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, a doll collection and traveling. Survivors include four children, Barbara Bailey, Walsenburg, Dorothy Beamer, Hamilton, MT, Russell Beamer, Olathe and John Beamer, Fullerton, CA; a sister, Dorothy Buchanan, Paonia; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Wednesday from La Veta First Baptist Church. Mariposa Chapter No. 63, Order of Eastern Star conducted graveside service.
