Harry James Gordon was the son of Washington Gordon and Margaret Jane Rymers. He married Pearl Ingraham on 12 July 1898, in Curtice, Allen Township, Ottawa Co., Ohio. Harry and Pearl were the parents of at least two children, daughters Helen Louise Gordon McGeorge and Marian Frances Gordon Chandler.

OBITUARY from The Ottawa County Exponent, Oak Harbor, Ohio, Friday, July 20, 1934, page 7: "Harry J. Gordon, a native of Oak Harbor, born and raised in Oak Harbor, a graduate of the Oak Harbor schools in the class of 1889 (consisting of Charles H. Graves, Homer B. Woodward, Nellie Bell and Harry J. Gordon), died at Lima, last week Thursday, and the remains were brought to Oak Harbor, for burial on Saturday. Harry James Gordon was born in Oak Harbor, Nov. 7, 1871 [sic]. He married to Miss Pearl lngraham, of Curtice, and resided here a few years after marriage, and then moved to Curtice, where he operated a general store for a number of years. Later, they moved to Bridgeport, Ill., where for 21 years he was in the wholesale and retail coffee business. He was an active member in the M. E. church, where he taught a class of boys in the Sunday school. Some years ago, his health failed and he came to Oak Harbor, and for a time resided with his sister, Mrs. Henry A. Kilmer. About a year ago, he went to Lima and his heath continued poorly, although the end did not seem near, and the word of his death was a surprise and shock. He is survived by a wife and two grown daughters, from whom he is estranged, now residing in Oklahoma. Funeral services were held at the Helrick funeral home, Rev. C. R. Davenport officiating, and the remains were interred in the Oak harbor Cemetery. The pallbearers were George Gordon, Frank Gordon, Walter Gordon, Otto H. Kilmer, Wm. F. Kilmer,and D. A. Kraemer. Among those present from out of town were his sister Mrs. Eva Bleckner, Mrs. Donna Bleckner, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Welsh, and Mrs, Jessie Fahl, Frank Gordon of Toledo. his brother Wm. Gordon and Mrs. Wm. Gordon, Walter Gordon and Gloria of Toledo."
