She came to Oklahoma in 1901 and settled in the Tribbey community. She moved to Shawnee in 1947 and lived on S. McKinley. Mrs. Colwell was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was survived by three sons, Wesley Colwell, Monette, Mo., N.E. Colwell, Shawnee, OK, J.B. (Buck) Colwell, Hart, Tex; two daughters, Mrs. Lona Farr and Mrs. Gladys Elmore, both of Shawnee; 15 grandchildren; 32 great- grandchildren; 4 great - great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lona Reeves, Spur, Texas.
