Musician. Born in Austria, he was a master violinist known for his expressive and characteristic sound. He made his United States debut at the Steinway Hall New York City on November 10, 1888, which lead to a series of American tours into the 1900s, that brought him real acclaim. He returned to Europe in 1924, performed at private and public concerts, as well as composing a number of pieces for the violin, including solos for encores. He settled once again in the United States as a citizen in 1943 and recorded his own version of the first movement of the Paganini D major violin concerto. He was featured on NBC Radio broadcast performances for a few years and gave his last public concert in 1947. He died in New York City at the age of 86.
