She was born on March 31, 1915, in New Bedford, Massachusetts of Polish immigrants. She graduated from Taunton High School in Taunton, MA, and from Simmons College in Boston, MA with a B.S. in Nursing. She did her nurse's training at Peter Brent Brigham Hospital in Boston and she was a registered nurse. She served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a nurse. She was formerly an instructor at the Macon Hospital School of Nursing and was a nursing supervisor at the Macon Bibb County Health Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Patrick Lackay, in 1991.
Mrs. Lackay is survived by her sons, John Lackay and wife Virginia of Glenwood, MD; William Lackay, and wife Christina, of Bushnell, FL; grandchildren, Matthew Edward Lackay of Jacksonville, FL, Jessica Rose Lackay and Craig Patrick Lackay of Bushnell, FL, Michelle Barringer of Silver Springs, MD; and Melinda Boyle of Baltimore, MD; two great granddaughters and a great great granddaughter.
